Some days, life can feel unbearably heavy. Old hurts, self-doubt, or relationship struggles can leave you feeling stuck, anxious, or disconnected from yourself, and carrying it alone can be exhausting. I offer a space where you are fully seen, heard, and supported. Grounded in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, I help you understand your emotions, recognize the patterns that keep you stuck, and build a more compassionate relationship with yourself while creating more authentic connections with others. I walk alongside you with warmth, care, and deep respect for your story as we explore what you need, process your experiences, and move toward feeling more confident, connected, and alive. Our work is guided by your pace and your goals, offering a space where you can be yourself and trust that change is possible.

Common Challenges Individuals Bring to Therapy

Feeling Disconnected From Yourself

You may feel out of touch with your own needs, emotions, or sense of worth. Life can feel heavy or muted, as if something inside you has gone quiet. You might struggle to trust yourself, feel unsure of what you want, or wonder whether you truly matter to others.

Struggling in Relationships or Feeling Alone

You might long for closeness but feel unsure how to reach for it, or fear being a burden, rejected, or misunderstood. Conflict, miscommunication, or emotional distance with others can leave you feeling isolated, unseen, or unsure whether anyone truly has your back.

Living with Persistent Self-Criticism or Shame

An inner voice of judgment, guilt, or inadequacy may feel constant and exhausting. You might feel unlovable, unwanted, or “not enough,” even when others care about you. This can leave you feeling alone with your pain and unsure how to find compassion for yourself.

Difficulty Expressing Needs or Setting Boundaries

You may find it hard to speak up for yourself or ask for what you need, especially if doing so feels risky or unfamiliar. This can lead to resentment, emotional exhaustion, or a pattern of putting others first while feeling invisible or depleted.

Feeling Anxious, On Edge, or Always Bracing

You may experience frequent worry, intense emotions, or a sense of being on high alert. Your mind might scan for what could go wrong, making it hard to feel settled or at ease. You may feel overwhelmed by uncertainty, struggle to trust yourself or others, or feel afraid of your own emotional reactions.

Feeling Stuck or Lost During Life Transitions

Major changes or internal shifts can leave you feeling uncertain, untethered, or unsure of your next step. You may feel helpless, directionless, or disconnected from a sense of purpose, especially if old ways of coping no longer work.

How Individual Counseling Works

Clients can expect a simple and supportive process from the start. Therapy with Abby begins with a free 15 minute phone consultation to make sure it feels like a good fit. If they choose to move forward, Abby sends a few forms that help her understand their background and what they want support with before the first session. The first 50 minute meeting, called an intake session, is a bit more structured and focuses on talking through what brings the client in, reviewing how counseling works, and setting initial goals together. After that, sessions feel more natural and focused on the client’s current needs. Abby uses Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy and Internal Family Systems informed work to help clients understand their emotions, notice patterns that show up in their lives, and connect more deeply with themselves. Clients can expect a space that is steady, compassionate, and free of judgment as they work toward feeling clearer, more connected, and more grounded in their everyday life.
